Hellsing ARM .454 Casull Auto by Rethana Hellsing ARM .454 Casull Auto by Rethana
A remake of my old 3DS MAX 454 Casull model from the Hellsing Ultimate OVA, this time using Cinema 4D.

-------------------------------------------

Modeling time: Around 18 hours, 1 sitting.
Render time: 10 hours

Hellsing ARM .454 Casull Auto
Projectile: Custom Silver .454 Caliber 13mm Hollow-Point Explosive Casull rounds
Propellant: Unknown mix of chemicals
Magazine: 6
Length: 39cm
Maker: Hellsing Arms Weapons Industrials Co. Ltd©
The gun fires custom 13mm silver, hollow-point bullets with an explosive core. Highly illegal against humans but perfectly acceptable and useful against Vampires. The long barrel and custom propellant mix fire these bullets at a rate of over 701m/s (2300 fps) with 2212 ft·lbf (3.0 KJ) of energy at a maximum distance of 1.5 Kilometers (5018 feet). The bullets easily pass through flesh and body tissue, clothing, doors, walls, and at close range can penetrate some forms of light to heavy Body Armor. The m/s these bullets can pull off along with their overall power mixed with the explosive core make these bullets highly feared by the living and undead alike, blowing large chunks of flesh away with each hit, making this one of the most powerful pistols in current existence.

------------------------------------------------------------
The gun is actually longer than it appears, but the angle makes it look a little fat and stuby. I know the magazine looks a little weird, but that is how it looks in the anime and I am fine with that. There is more detail in the grip then it shows in the render, so do not mind the smoothness much if it is odd.

Overall I'm impressed with myself. I just sat down and said, "I should remake some of my old models" and boom, 18 hours later and this gets done and another 10 hours and I get it rendered.

If you look at the internet for pictures of the gun in the anime you will most likely find the old anime's version called the "Joshua", a misstranslation of what the gun actually says on the side and overall all the art and story of the old anime was just terrible.
So, in honor of the remake of the manga/anime into an OVA series, I remade this gun to look up-to-date.

Not to be a nerd cartridge stickler but the .454 Casull is a rimmed catridge like the .45 long colt, it is not a "rimless" cartridge like a .45ACP. The round shown in the picture is clearly "rimless" in that it does not have a protruding rim. It does have an extractor though. Unless this round uses a special .454 Rimless round it should have a protruding rim.

M3d13val I must say you’re flaming over something that is admittedly incorrect and was never meant to be accurate, if you have such an issue with the specs please do call Mr. Kouta Hirano and complain all you like about how an anime is incorrect. With this statement being made, you sir, have a good day.

P.S Rathana, You did an amazing job please do keep up the amazing work.

The ejection port is too short to effectively eject shells of that length. A hollow point would make no sense if used in conjunction with an explosive core. A fuse mounted on a ballistic type tip would be more realistic. A standard .454 Casull could only dream of hitting targets at a maximum range of 200. With a barrel that long I would give you 250 meters for the benefit of the doubt. But you're saying over a kilometer, that is more unrealistic than vampires themselves. Finally 13 mm is over 50 caliber. A casull bullet is 11.5 mm. Good day.

I asked the same question ages ago and never got a reply. The best I can help you with is the "Hellsing" and "Casull" lettering is French Script in italics.

I feel hurt... The old anime was anything BUT terrible!!!

I haven't seen the OVAs yet, but that doesn't make the old one terrible at all!!!

Hay. I liked the old one better than the ova [i need to watch them all though, STILL] but the ova is still pretty good. I like the original better, just up by a few points.

I haven't watched any of the OVAs. No matter how good they are though, it doesn't make the old one TERRIBLE does it?

What people need to realise is that to truly appreciate this series's OVAs they have to at least RESPECT the original.

Not necessarily LIKE it, just RESPECT it for what it is. It's a bonus if they like the original, which they should.

How can anyone LOVE an intrepretation, and HATE the original?!?

No idea. that's pretty messed up. However I still like the original better, it felt much darker, I mean, the OVA was pretty dark but, it was a different kind of dark you know?

I found the old one much more serious [how it should be] then the OVA, but it has a few funny perks you know?

The OVA, err, kind of over dramatic on some things, kind of kills it, i hope they make another remake of the freaking thing [doubt it highly~] and make the style and stuff more to the original Hellsing.

Im not a big fan of the "super anime "disu-disu" Stuff" [speaking of Disu means 'it' right? someone told me it is] but the Ova isen't that super anime, so it's bearable, but when it gets to the ass kicking, oh boy, what a lot of fun!

However i need to watch all of it in order to have a proper opinion of OVA.

But of course you need to finish the OVAs to have a proper opinion.

My point is, no matter how good or bad they are, the old ones aren't terrible.

but i really didn't like the fact they changed Alucard in the ova. he seems... different.

fun fact is, the first anime is the interpretation, the ova follows the manga to the letter. so story-wise and character-wise, the ova is the original. and ya, alucard is different, but that's just cuz they changed him when the first anime was made, the ova alucard is how he should be. you can read the manga if you can't wait for the ova to finish.

well i thought the OVA was already finished.
But i still like the "original" [aka the first version] a lot better, but heck the ova is just as nice. the OVA may follow the manga and might be correct [i need to take a peek at the manga before i can truly say so because it might not have followed it exactly and might skip some parts], I still preffer the alcard from the orignal anime that first came out. However, everyone is entitled to they're own opinion on what they like and don't like C:, but why should i teach you something you already know? that's a bit redundant, don't you think so?

Thank you for the fun fact C: ...

Looks awesome, I love the series and this is one of the best models I have seen.

Question for you, would you ever consider releasing your models? I am an Alucard cosplayer and I am looking for a model of his guns so I can try making plastic models of them. If it is something you are willing to do hit me up and we can work it out.

do you know what font the various prints are on the side? so far I've narrowed the Hellsing and Casull down to French Script font definately, but I'm having trouble with the 454 for now. I'm painting a plastic gun to look like the casull for a friend's alucard cosplay and I want to make a stencil for the print.

Oh and to tommygunner70 I don't know how many magazine fed weapons you own but very few use the old feed lip method and with the newer styles thats exactly what you do push them in from the top..it's a lot easier on the fingers.

I think you did a wonderful Job the white casull and the jackal are both based on the 1911 style handgun and you got it almost 100% from the show. The magazine by the way is perfect it looks just like a real one. the .454 casull is a real cartridge it's 11.4mm and runs between 1,600 and 1,800 Feet per second and 1,100-1,800 foot pounds of energy out of the barrel depending on the weight of the bullet used. There are fireing makes of the white casull and if my friend ever comes back from iraq with the one we made I'll send you pictures.

I like it, but i do have some thoughts/comments about it.

The magazine looks very weird; a bit to off center, and the top is a bit too open.

When your pressing rounds into a magazine, you are not actaully pressing them in from the top.

I mosty use my left and to old that magazine so that my thumb ends up at the rear of the magazine, with my thumb, i push down the round that is allready in it while using my right hand to slide the next one into it.

when a gun loads, it actauly slides the round forward, out of the magazine, it does not really pick it up.

and only 10% of the bullet is exposed at the top of the magazine.

furthermore, the magazine should have as meny holes in the side as it has rounds in it.

those holes actually service as a way to see, how many rounds you still have left in it.

to preserve overal strenght of the magazines exterior, the holes are not placed in a straight line, they are actually zig zaging from left to right on the side of the magazine...

take this [link] for an animation on how a pistol operatates when fired, i am sure that it would further your understanding of a hand gun, which might verywell enable you to create an even more realistic version.

Very nice model ^^ I wanted to do one myself until i found out that you beat me to it :O

Btw, Joshua is something like the nickname that Alucard gives to the gun, not precisely a mistranslation ^^ There's Jackal as well, the gun which he has specially made after he met with Father Anderson :O

Good Job :3 *clap*

A .454 Casull is a HUGE cartridge, I'm not sure if you could get your hand around the grip... I mean some people have problems with a .45 auto (like Glock 21 and 1911s), more with Desert Eagles (.357 mag, .44 mag, .50 AE).

Barrel wouldn't need to be any longer than about 5-6 inches from the throat. Making the overall length of the slide about 9 inches, maybe 8.

Still, don't think most people could get their hands around a magazine fed .454 Casull, even in single stack. But, I guess that is why it is featured in a cartoon.

Most of your HUGE cartridge guns (.454 Casull, .460, .50 S&W, etc) are revolvers. Mostly because you can't get your hand around the grip if the magazine inserts there and the recoil springs wear out way too fast.

it is not an cartoon, it's anime! but on the other hand... the master of this gun is still an vampire with unlimited capabilities! so I think he will be fine with his hand around the grip xD
